Stuart Olson's Response to Covid-19

Covid-19

A message to our valued partners

As we all continue to navigate Covid-19, Stuart Olson wants to remind our partners that we remain adaptable and committed to delivering the highest quality of service. We are taking proactive measures to protect the health and safety of our teams and our partners across Canada. Although the situation around us continues to change, the commitment we have to you and our projects will not.

Business Operations
Stuart Olson’s business remains operational as we adhere to guidelines, recommendations and protocol set by all levels of government and health officials representing each of our operating regions. Several measures have been taken to ensure we are still operational while doing our part to limit the spread of Covid-19. Leadership has mandated all employees whose roles allow for them to work remotely, to do so. While for now we may no longer share workspaces, we will continue to share communications and collaborate with our stakeholders through email, phone, and video calls on a frequent basis.

For our jobsites where working remotely is not an option, we are taking all necessary precautions to remain operational and, most importantly, safe. Through consistent communication channels with trade partners and our clients, we are evaluating new information and risks on a daily basis. We are working at the direction of local health authorities and incorporating any additional requirements as dictated by our clients.

Some of the measures implemented on project sites to date include:

  • Where possible, no more than 30 workers in a work area/building at a time
  • Workers are required to maintain a 2 meter distance from a fellow worker
  • Split shifts and/or staggered breaks
  • Increased deep cleaning in addition to continuous surface cleaning
  • Reduction of in-person meetings, while emphasizing social distancing or virtual meetings when possible
  • Work stations are not being shared
  • More site toilets, including each trade having their own individual toilet
  • Where there is a shortage of hand sanitizer, sinks are being installed on sites or using onsite facilities
  • Where possible, we will begin administering temperature checks
  • Tracking of affected workers
  • Site-specific action plans and increased communication for responsible operation and attendance
  • Development of extensive safe work procedures for pandemic planning and adaptability

Employee Health and Safety
In order to continue providing your teams with the highest quality of service, we are ensuring that we take care of ours. Resources and information from health authorities and government have been circulated to our employees as they have been made available. We have also implemented the following measures:

  • Formalized a Stuart Olson Covid-19 response team
  • Launched a centralized page on our intranet for information and resources
  • Communication for all Covid-19 related inquiries to an internal email (covid19@stuartolson.com)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Workplace Learning Solutions – Digital delivery of services
  • First Access

We will continue to uphold continuous communication and collaboration with our clients, trade partners and stakeholders to ensure all necessary precautions are taken to achieve collective success for project needs. Stuart Olson places the highest value on the partnerships that we have established with our clients and all stakeholders.

We are committed to you, your colleagues, and your families in this time of hardship.

 Stuart Olson’s response to Covid-19

Stuart Olson continues to monitor the global spread of Covid-19, and is implementing a number of measures in response to this pandemic.

We remain committed to our employees and clients during this uncertain time. As always, our priority remains the health and safety of our employees, clients, trade partners, stakeholders, and their families. We recognize the unprecedented impact this pandemic has not only upon our organization, but in our communities across the country, and we are united in working to support our team members through this.

To do so effectively, we have implemented the following measures to assist our employees:

  • Formalized a Stuart Olson Covid-19 response team
  • Launched a centralized page on our intranet for information and resources
  • Created a direct line of communication for all Covid-19 related inquiries with an internal email (covid19@stuartolson.com)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Workplace Learning Solutions – Digital delivery of services
  • First Access

Stuart Olson’s operations across Canada remain functional and we are adhering to guidelines, recommendations and protocol set by all levels of government, as well as health officials representing each of our operating regions.

We will continue to uphold continuous communication and collaboration with our clients, trade partners and stakeholders to ensure all necessary precautions are taken to achieve collective success for project needs.

Operationally, we have implemented the following policies:

  • Any employee(s), or employee(s) living with someone returning from travel abroad including airport transits are not permitted at any Stuart Olson location until they have successfully completed a 14-day self-isolation upon return to Canada. These employees, where their role permits, will be working from home.
  • Enhanced jobsite and office hygiene measures by ensuring all locations have hand sanitizer, soap and running water or disinfectant in addition to frequent and thorough cleaning of jobsite trailers and offices.
  • Employees exhibiting flu-like symptoms, or who have been in close contact with, are recommended to go into preventative self-isolation for 14 days.

While we face this, I am inspired by how my team has come together and responded with passion and determination to do everything they can to see this through. We will continue to work together, support one another, and rise to this challenge as best we can, as one team - as Stuart Olson.

I ask that you all stay safe and remain committed to positively impacting everything in your control: yourself, your family, your team, and your community.
